CTF mods know CARP when they see it I would hope.

Let me know OK?

Hi Christopher,

Just FYI, I looked at that underpromotion suite that you told me about. It's actually a PGN of 42 games in which underpromotions were played in real games. Many of the positions are duplicates (or mirrors) of the same position. For many others, the underpromotion is not the best move (or is tied for best).

So, I discarded all of the dross and it turns out there are 17 positions in the suite, and almost all of them are trivial for any engine to solve in less than a second.

So, here it is in case you care. Positions 15 and 17 are the only ones that Myrddin has trouble with, as mentioned by the note.

6K1/7P/6k1/5p2/5P2/8/8/8 w - - 0 63 bm h8=R; id "Underpromotion 01";

Hey John!

Are you still associated with CM? I used to enjoy your updates about the development of CM 9000(?) but I remember you not being part of that project anymore.

I have been out from computer chess for sometime, so just curious.

Hi Pavel!

I haven't been involved with the development of Chessmaster since a few months after the release of CM9000, so it's been almost 7 years. I do (very) occasionally post on the official CM board, as well as answer CM-related questions here and on R.G.C.C.

Hello John,

One thing to say is the suite (or pgn if you like) is not mine. It comes from a very nice site although and could be helpful to those (like you) who are starting out.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Some start with CARP and some start with FCUK. Some beginners need PGN's like this......

No problem.

Get stuck in on first name terms is the way to go.
