Butcher 1.60n1 chess engine

Post by Norbert Raimund Leisner »

Hello together,

under Arena-GUI (WB-protocol) I get each time the message:
application cannot be started because the configuration is not correct
- command line contains -ht 32 -egtb 8.

No problems with the further version 1.58.

Best wishes,
Norbert

If it says the side by side configuration is incorrect it might need something like this.....

x86

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en

or

x64

http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/deta ... laylang=en

Specifically the file it might need is MSVCR80.dll or something like that.

In fact check that....it might be looking for the following version....8.0.50727.4053

So....

x86

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

x64

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

Final stab at it.......

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

There are lots of problems with the versions of these dll's as you can see here.

http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/asp ... inclu.aspx

Anyway it works here now.

Also you might want to change the -ht 32 entry in the Command Line Parameters to -ht 38

Code: Select all

-ht [size] - [size] specifies (megabytes) size of hashtables
recommended values : 9,24,38,62,67,91,105,120,129,166,225,262,325

Hi Matthias,

could you please attach your working Butcher folder (zipped) in the CCRL public forum for me?

Cheers,
Graham.

Not sure about this one. Homepge says 'hash table structure/access redesign' so maybe those size limitations are no longer valid.
To be honest that is from 1.56. You might want to change it and then again, you might not. :) At the bottom of his page he does say numbers like 1024. Did you get a readme with yours (, the new one I mean)?

You need to install the update Graham. Then you can download it yourself or do I misunderstand you?
