of engines that use the bsf instruction (RomiChess, some Craftys) and engines that do not use it (Glaurung).

Which gains more in nodes per second when moving to i7?

I didn't notice enough difference to be able to measure it. BSF on core-2 is not that slow. Even the new popcnt instruction did not make a big difference in Crafty, but Crafty has been optimized in how it does this stuff so this is not exactly a shocking result. the I7 is definitely faster, but there are other significant architectural issues that help it out. From triple-channel memory, to other changes...
