After some games -all lost, of course- I can say that Fritz 12 engine is different to F11 engine. I cannot say if it is better or not because anyway I lose every time to both programs, so I have no base opf comparison available, just a feeling about how they does the task.
F11 was lot sharper in its tactical ways. F12 seems to stay longer in the examination on the tree around ply 14-15. Looks like the search is wider.
It takes into account more positional considerations. I have seen f12 to play a bishop -like deep blue against Kasparov- just to stop a pawn even if no immediate tactical possibilities existed for that pawn to become dangerous.
All in all, the ways of F12 seems to me more convoluted and indirect. For many moments I felt as playing a known freeware engine of a pal of us here.
The rest, the Gui part, was somewhat disappointing. Not too much of the good things and not always better than old fashion gui.
Conclusion: it is doubtful if it is worth the money.
