Should downloadlinks for Ippo/Robbo be allowed again?
Since there is still no evidence, not even a try of an evidence or an explenation, why Ippolit is supposed to be a clone I am wondering how people think about the ban.

Re: Should downloadlinks for Ippo/Robbo be allowed again?
you can make whatever polls you like
someone else can start a poll that there should be no discussion of the engine
those who agree will vote in the poll they agree with
it is this moderation teams position(and moderation teams before us) that no links will be allowed ..it is becoming a bit tiresome to have to defend our position one way or another every other day
you seem to be a member who posts about one and only one topic

Those who agree? It's a simple yes/no question, and I wanna know how the people think.
I don't want to attack the mods. I don't know what happens behind the curtains, and so I don't say your decission is right or wrong (from your point of view)

My original german text:
Rybka 4 erscheint jetzt erst ab 2010 (kann sogar bis Juni 2010 dauern).
Offenbar ist Rybka 4 für einen "Kampf" gegen "IPPOLIT/ROBBOLITO/IGORRIT" momentan noch nicht stark genug... -> anders kann ich mir diese Verschiebung von Rybka 4 auf 2010 nicht vorstellen.
Schade!
-----------
Translate to english:
Rybka 4 now appear until 2010 (This may take until June 2010).
Apparently Rybka 4 is for a "fight" against "Ippolit / ROBBOLITO / IGORRIT" currently not strong enough ... -> Otherwise I can not understand this step of Rybka 4 -> to 2010!
Sad!
So please make Ippolit here free again. Thank you.

Re: Should downloadlinks for Ippo/Robbo be allowed again?
I'm not actually voting since I could really go either way on this, but I thought I'd share my thoughts.
It's not clear to me from the charter why links should be removed. I gather the mods think it falls under item 5, "Are not of questionable legal status"
Yet the charter makes no provisions for linking. And I guess my personal opinion is what harm can it do to the forum? Links are not, in themselves illegal. The content they link to might be, but links are not content. At worst, it seems the forum might get a takedown notice. That doesn't represent danger either.
Hm. I guess that was rather one-sided. I don't have much to say for the other side except that I am quite capable of finding anything that gets removed from the forum. So, there isn't a huge downside to removing them either.

Some general comments on the affair. The argument on CCC about whether or not Robbolito is a clone is pointless for a number of reasons. However as a consequence of their behaviour, the “authors” of Robbolito do not deserve to be given the benefit of the doubt. It was predictable that the release of Robbolito would delay the emergence of Rybka 4 and Gian-Carlo Pascutto commented recently that the emergence of Robbolito was a setback to his plans. In addition, if the authors of Fritz and Shredder rely on income from engine sales to put bread on their tables, it was a very serious setback indeed for them.

Hi Steve,
I really hope the moderation team will stand bold to its decision despite the outcome of the poll.
Though the can of worms is already open, CCC imho should not support those 'guys' by allowing direct links.
Regards,
Joerg.

Any moron can find it. If you need a link from here you are not smart enough to operate a chess program.Alexander Schmidt wrote:Since there is still no evidence, not even a try of an evidence or an explenation, why Ippolit is supposed to be a clone I am wondering how people think about the ban.

Whether or not this chess forum will become involved in something of questionable legal statis is the crux of the matter.
Your poll is totally irrelevant to me. Feel free to start impeachment proceedings.

Same as Dann if you cant use google to search these engines, then what the heck do you need a poll to approve the link here? Only reason is to massage your ego. Stop wasting your time posting here and spend your time searching for these clones then. Get off your lazy butt and Google it. Or do you like to be spoonfed like a baby?
Stop talking about impeachment did you get your law degree from a online course?
