GGT. Stockfish 1.6 in a festive playing mood

Post by rainhaus »

In early November I've started my GGT (Great Gambit Tournament) with the best MP- Engines, on a longer time control. I'll report it in more detail somewhat later. Replacing now stockfish 1.5 with the new version 1.6, the Glaurung-Successor won at once his first Gambit round. Yes, of course, one round (30 games) is far away from any significance, but in correspondence with the first CEGT-results (have a look on the CEGT-Forum) this score could show just as well a formidable advancement. And in addition, until now 15 gambits and 450 games are played on GGT, but only Rybka and Naum came out as winners of the individual gambit rounds. Even Deep Shredder couldn't fix one.

In any case, Stockfish 1.6 JA is the winner of the Eco A80 Dutch Krejcik Gambit Round.
Starting position: 1. d4 f5 2.g4. Time Control 40/40', 20/20', 20'+12''. Intel Core i7 920 oc 3700 MHz, 3 CPU, ponder off, 1.2 MB Hash, EGTB 3-4-5. Vista 64Bit, Fritz11-GUI.
Opponents: Deep Fritz 11, Naum 4 UCI, Deep Rybka 3 CB-native, Deep Shredder 12 UCI, Zappa Mexico II UCI.

Many thanks to the authors, a very nice Christmas gift for the community, indeed.

Great results for Stockfish, Rainer. Thanks for the tournament. I wasn't sure if Stockfish was really up there amongst the best, this results confirmed.
