Match Robbo e4 vs g3

Post by Taner Altinsoy »

I let Robbolito e4 and g3 versions run on my laptop and desktop for a total of 300 games.

On my desktop which is AMD x2 4200 3GB ram windows XP, 100 3m blitz games played with ponder off using rybka book and 412MB hash each.

Result is +17, -15, = 68 (7 ELO) in favor of g3.

On my laptop which is an old celeron 1400 MHz with 756MB ram with windows XP installed, I let them play 200 3m + 3s games with no SSE2 versions again with ponder off, using rybka book and 256 MB hash each.

Result is +30, -28, = 142 (3 ELO) in favor of E4.

Below are the links to games in PGN format.

Interesting results. Which is better among the three, e4, g2 and g3,
is not clear at the moment. Another tests show Robbo w32 versions
performs better than R3 2cpu w32.

Lets wait for the g4 version.

Best,

Best,
What about stockfish1.6s

Dann claimed 150 elo improvement in his testing so I wonder if it is not better than Robbo.

I am not sure about this but I got the impression that no SS2 version differs in strentgh. I tested stockfish against rybka and robbo in small matches of around 20 games and it didn't fare well. Will need some more tests.
