Iuri Akobia /Positional Draws

Post by Michael Diosi »

Hi,

A very intereting page and very nices chess studies and articles:

http://akobia.geoweb.ge/articles.html

Click on Chapter 1-Chapter 8.

What does your favorite engine say ?

And please don't complain its not in FEN. This is ALL people had to say when this was psoted in a German forum.

Maybe something for the STS-Chess suite ?

Hi,

It looks like engines can't solve these positions. This shows us how useless engine-engine games are.

[d]8/8/3K4/8/8/pR6/1r2pR2/3k4 w - - 0 1

No.4. D.Gurgenidze, 1975. In this study the idea "riling" a queen is shown. 1.Rxa3 Rd2+
2.Kc7! Rc2+ 3.Kd8!
The king is constantly moving away from the center events, 3.... e1Q, the
queen is born, but it is "dead", it cannot leave the place of birth and will always be chained to
it 4.Ra1+ Rc1 5.Raa2! Rb1 6.Kd7! Rb7+ 7.Kc8 Rb1, otherwise Ra1+, 8.Kd7! Rc1 9.Kd8 =. If
the queen leave the field it will be killed or the black king will be under perpetual check.

Analysis by Deep Shredder 12 x64:

1.Rxa3 Rd2+ 2.Kc7 Rc2+ 3.Kd8 e1Q 4.Ra1+ Rc1 5.Raa2 Qxf2
-+ (-5.26) Depth: 6/21 00:00:01 20kN, tb=320
= (-0.01) Depth: 23/48 00:02:02 388mN, tb=124118

3rd Diagram is wrong, see correct position below.

[d]3N4/5p2/1k3P2/8/2P5/5p2/1K6/8 w - - 0 1
