Hiarcs 13.1 for PC is out!

Post by Eelco de Groot »

Some details in the email from HIARCS support that we just received:
Dear HIARCS Chess Friends,

It has been two long years since HIARCS 12 was released. We have now just
released the new HIARCS 13.1 chess engine for PC Windows.

The new products include a choice of the latest Hiarcs 13.1 SP or MP chess
engines and the latest opening books.

The HIARCS 13.1 chess engine offers these key features beyond the HIARCS
12.1 product:
1) Deeper search giving significantly improved chess performance
2) New evaluation heuristics provide better insight and more aggression
3) Over two million position opening book with all the latest theory
including new ideas in 2010.

Head to head Hiarcs 13.1 scores about 65% against Hiarcs 12.1 for a
significant performance Elo improvement.

Other features include:
+ Single and multi-core/processor versions available so you can choose the
ultimate HIARCS to maximize your hardware
+ Hiarcs 13.1 is an advanced version of Hiarcs 13 which won the Mescosur Cup
on a Pocket PC (perf 2938 elo). Gives very strong play even in bullet and
blitz games.
+ Opening book is three times the size of the Hiarcs 12 book and is the full
tournament book and MUCH stronger than ever before
+ New book and position learning capabilities means that HIARCS 13.1
improves as it plays!
+ Flexible, friendly licensing makes installation and usage very easy
+ Free updates of the HIARCS 13 series engine as they become available
+ Includes a discount coupon of 20% off future purchases on www.hiarcs.com
(valid until 31/8/10)
This is the engine that helped Anand prolong the title against Topalov, as Harvey posted here: http://www.talkchess.com/forum/viewtopi ... 57&t=34381 8-)

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Hello Gino,

Somebody who has both Aquarium and HIARCS should answer but I think it should work as well as any engine that supports the UCI commands to exclude moves. As far as I know HIARCS is fully UCI compliant so I don't expect any problems.

The download link is displayed in the confirmation text immediately after you purchase it.

The same link is provided in the confirmation email you receive.

I paid and downloaded it all within ~5 minutes.

...

Head to head Hiarcs 13.1 scores about 65% against Hiarcs 12.1 for a
significant performance Elo improvement.
So what does that mean the estimated elo of Hiarcs 13.1 is?

Thanks

Dunno, but my guess (from that result among other things) is +60-80 over H12.1.

Hi Eelco,

I bought Hiarcs SMP and I can confirm that it works perfectly with IDeA.

Thanks,

Gino

Thanks for the feedback Gino! I hope you enjoy your Hiarcs 13. Good to hear that people are not only using Rybka in IDeA and that there is still room for other programs, where I'm not counting all the Rybka clones out there, because they are not really worth the attention, we have enough Rybkas already!
