9 troublemakers from Der brillante Schachzug

Post by Dann Corbit »

I am looking for a mechanical score to all of the 'Der brillante Schachzug' positions, and I have solved all but 9. Some have the right best move choice, but they have a terrible ce, so the plan cannot be right.
At the end of each position, I have added my calculated pv and ce.

DR4 prefers Rxf6 very quickly (d15) in mpv mode.

spv is a different story:

dann, do you have a rough time/depth limit on these positions? (obviously positions searched/time would vary with various hardware)

i assume you've at least double checked each position to make sure the bm is accurate.

trying rybka on the last one now, i don't think i'll go near the endgame ones, at least not yet.

I ran at 2 hours with 4 x 3GHz CPUs and 2 GB hash.
I have tried 5 engines each.

i'm particularly interested in this one:

[d]1rbr2k1/4q1p1/p2bp2p/8/R6P/3QB1P1/4PPB1/2R3K1 w - - bm Bxh6

it's an embarrassment if no top engine can't solve this on such hardware given 2 hours. seems like a move that would be deeply examined by any engine with good king safety awareness.

bumping this because i'd really like to see if we can't solve the other 8, if anyone else has the hardware/time & inclination. also if dann could correct the errors i'd appreciate it.

dann, did you use the same 5 engines and if so, what were they?
