Moderation Team Philosophy

Post by Steve B »

We are posting our moderation philosophy here which was our candidate statement
any and all moderator decisions we make will be guided by both the charter and our moderation philosophy

The philosophy of this team is simple, clear and it is the
following:
We appreciate the use and existence of a common sense approach in
order Not to let tiny, microscopic things to grow out of proportion. We
will not escalate discussions with immoderate moderations actions, but
neither we will leave at will the action of clearly intents of creating
havoc
We consider that a degree of good humor and sociality not
directly related to chess, but useful to increase our mutual friendship,
must be allowed.
At this time We will allow all links to Ippo and Family engines
in the General forum .
Discussion of the engines should be in whatever forum is
appropriate for the topic. If someone is looking at the code and
has a question/comment/observation about something, the programming
forum is the right place. If someone is looking at similarities or differences
with other programs (such as Rybka) then the EO forum is the right
place.
Engine match results should be posted in the Tournament forum.
we will not tolerate members complaining about our allowing of
links or of allowing discussion. We have clearly stated our intentions, and
by voting for this team, you are voting for our moderation
philosophy. If we win the election, clearly the majority agree with our
philosophy and we are going to be unwilling to debate it endlessly. Suggestions
are always welcome, but not repeated complaining.
members complaining will be given a series of warnings resulting
in account deactivation from one week(upon a second warning ) to a
full term ban(upon a third and final warning)
Other topics can be debated without other restriction so long as
they come from mutual respect and good sense.
We do not intend to be heavy-handed and move or delete posts or
entire threads, or lock entire threads. Instead, we prefer to work with
posters to make sure that their posts follow charter guidelines and are in
the appropriate forum. We would like to encourage posters to follow
guidelines, rather than wrecking the forum with actions that reduce
the ability to participate in or follow discussions. We might suggest
that a post be moved (or reposted) to a more appropriate forum should
someone ask a question that might get more/better answers in an alternate
forum.
Post about specific issues, currently sent immediately to an specialized forum by the poster himself or the moderators, will have the chance to stay in the general forum for a while IF the poster so desires by sending the stuff to that general forum. After a while they will be sent to the particular forum adequate to its content. In this way everybody will realize what is going on in any matter related to chess computer, even in somewhat technical and/or specialized lines, and also the discussions in the general forum could be fertilized by serendipity connections. Once that function is accomplished, the specific post will go where it must be.
We will move threads if we receive a legitimate request and the move
seems appropriate to facilitate discussions. If a poster seems
hell-bent on creating problems, they will be dealt with directly, as opposed
to continually whacking threads apart.
