The game against 'Trace' was lost on time in a totally won position where the engine already showed a mate score. Somehow it didn't receive a 'ponderhit' command from Winboard/Polyglot where it should and kept on pondering indefinitely. I have never seen this behaviour with any other GUI.
This time I used the book that comes default with Winboard and I have to say that in a few games it gave a very crappy position to begin with.
So I really hope to do better next time.

A weird problem happened at least twice when Tinker was playing this month. It seemed to be related to a separate chess variation game starting outside the tournement bot. My Winboard board changed to a 9x9 format and Tinker just started burning time without getting commands. Restarting cleared it up, but had I not been watching there could have been time losses or crashes. I suspect this ICS server code problem also affected other engines too.

Indeed, this was very weird. It must have meant that the ICS sent you a board in the wrong format, i.e. that it somehow was using the board dimensions that belonged to another game and use it on the board of your game.
(Question: did you recognize the positon of your game in the constellation of pieces on the board, or was it a totally different position?)
This seems to have been the only occurrence of this event during the entire tourney, though. While there was someone constantly playing Xiangqi on the ICS. So it might be the result of some rare timing coincidence. I will try to debug it, of course. But if it virtually never happens, it might be hard...

It looked like the actual regular chess game at the time, just on a 9x9 board with an empty rank and file, IIRC.
