Gull is proof, that endgame play is not so important. In EET test it scored 54/100 in my PC, when most engines score 80 - 90! And still it plays in Deep Fritz / Shredder 12 level.

I doubt that any engine judgment out of a position test is possible, but I agree that the endgame of Gull is a mess. Actually I have many drawish position which where simply completly missjudged by Gull 1.1. I do not think that this enigne is a good partner for a game analysis!
I am impressed about the improvements in search in the last years, but it seems that there is nothing happening anymore (for now). I have the feeling that this search has to be backed up with some knowledge in the future.
Maybe we will see the comeback of some "old stagers" quite soon!
