Persistant hash ?

Hi,
I know 1 programm where that idea was used. I found it very usefull i.e. for correspondence chess or the situation when we have to return to the broken analysis .
That idea disappeared in the next version and it is not continued in other programms.
What can be a reason ?

Lack of time. He said he'd add it back in 4.1 if he could do so in 60 minutes.
