Arena/load a game

Post by tomlynch »

Referring to the load a game button to the right of the 'start a new game' button in upper left corner beneath 'File' and 'PGN.' What does it offer and how does it work?

Wasn't that what the Arena team always refers to as "intuitive GUI"?

Arena is - like some other GUI's - a very fine GUI (in my opinion of course) but as all komplex GUI's has so many features and settings that it goes not without some learning.

You probably mean the button "Open" (or F3) in the Menu "File" or the button "Open" (or Crtl+P) in the menu "PGN".

F3
opens a game data base (PGN) or a position database (EPD, FEN) or an Arena chess game file (FCH), i.e. opens a file listing all games or positions therein.

Ctrl+P
Does the same but only for PGN-files.
