Arena Position Database

I take it that the position database is where assorted positions can be loaded and stored. As a point of clarification this is to construct an opening book, however only one move per position is sought and no analysis is needed. An idea being worked with is that of designing Arena to work with a given opening position by executing every move within a .50 range of pawn unit values. My question here is what are some of the methods by which sets of positions can be loaded into the database?
