SWCR: Oldie-Mix started: 17.400 games to play!

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

the biggest tourney I ever start!

Oldie-MIX:
http://www.amateurschach.de/ftptrigger/ ... ix-1a.html

Safe this link to your favourits:
This is an LIVE-Result tourney!

OK, in the evening I config my Oldie-Mix tourney again. For some months I try to start this tourney, but I have much problems with different engines. So I am thinking I do it again but with more of the "newer amateurs".

Possible that I must delete different engines, means I must replace different engines with others. Easy, the tournament must run because I can't managed 60 days engine problems again and again.

30 engines I added, each engine have 1.160 games to play. 25 engines are new !!

OK ...

1.
05 tested SWCR engines:

01. Spark 1.0 w32, 2.717 ELO * RANKING 16 in SWCR-32
02. Hannibal 1.1 w32, 2.702 ELO * RANKING 19 in SWCR-32
03. Smarthink 1.20 w32, 2.594 ELO * RANKING 31 in SWCR-32
04. ChessTiger 2007 1.0012 w32, 2.560 ELO * RANKING 36 in SWCR-32
05. Zarkov 6.44 w32, 2.470 ELO * RANKING 37 in SWCR-32

Need some tested engine for a good ELO calculation for SWCR-32. So I added with Spark, Hannibal and Smarthink the tactical monster in the tourney.

2.
15 longer time not updated but very strong engines ... the OLDIES!

06. Gandalf 6.003 w32
07. Ruffian 2.1.0 w32
08. Yace 0.9987 w32
09. Pharaon 3.5.1 w32
10. SOS 5.1 for Arena w32
11. WB ETChess 13.01.2008 w32
12. WB Delfi 5.4 w32 (UCI made problems)
13. WB Aristarch 4.50 w32 (UCI made problems)
14. Colossus 2008b w32
15. Alaric 7.07 w32
16. WildCat 8 w32
17. WB ProDeo 1.6 w32
18. SlowChess Blitz WV 2.1 w32
19. Cyrano 0.6b17 w32
20. AnMon 5.75 w32

3.
10 newer updated amateurs I added

21. WB Francesca MAD 0.19 w32
22. Arasan 13.2 w32
23. Gaviota 0.84 w32
24. WB Frenzee 3.5.19 w32
25. Alfil 8.1.1 Optimized w32
26. WB Dirty 25.08.2011 w32
27. WB Deuterium 11.1.28.59 w32
28. RedQueen 1.0.0 w32
29. Philou 3.6 w32
30. Cheng3 1.05 w32

At the moment I have much problems with Cyrano 0.6b17 JA. I switched to the programmer version 0.6b17. It has to do with the older EGBB databases. If I have luck the programmer versions will work. If not I will try it without the older EGBB databases.

In the test phase for some months I had different problems with WildCat 8 and Ruffian 2.1.0.

Possible that I must replace engines. Sloppy, Brutos and Hamsters can be used in such cases.

17.400 games : 288 games per day = 60, 5 days. Means that my 4 Quad Core systems need for 17.400 40 minutes games with ponder around 61 days.

Have fun with this tourney.

Many thanks to Werner Schüle, with help me a bit with Cyrano and many thanks to Adam Hair to help me with Frenzee, to the programmer of Deuterium with some helps.

The configuration files for Shredder Classic 4.0 GUI can be found in my download area.

Re: SWCR: For the programmers which don't know my tourneys

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

conditions:

#Time control: 40/10 "repeatedly"
#Game average: 40 minutes, move average = 85
#Resign : OFF
#Ponder : ON
#Learning : OFF
#Endgames : 4-pieces, 32Mb cache
#Opening book: Own PGN random 5.04 book
#GUI: Shredder Classic 4 / Arena
#OS: Windows XP Pro. x64 Edition
#Processors: Intel® Core™2Q, 4xQ9550 2,83GHz
#Cores: 1 core for each engine
#Hash-Tables: 256Mb

30 engines participants:
29 matches x 40 games = 1.160 games per engine
17.400 tourney games

I used 4-pices only.
Old and NEW egbb, Gaviotabases, Nalimov (no Shredderbases, or GUI used Shredderbases).

The book can be found on my webpage, optimated with around 85.000 SWCR games.

For Winboard engines I am using the WB2uci adpater. The configuration can be also found on my download area.

Games will be available from time to time and for sure if the tourney will be ended. The results will be go in SWCR ratinglist.

Best

Hi Frank,
this sounds not good:
"At the moment I have much problems with Cyrano 0.6b17 JA. I switched to the programmer version 0.6b17. It has to do with the older EGBB databases. If I have luck the programmer versions will work. If not I will try it without the older EGBB databases. "
Seems the link I sent you was not correct?
Perhaps someone knows a download link for these older egbb?
The engines is working here ok with these egbb.

Re: SWCR: Cyrano and RedQueen

Hi Werner,

no, no link by yourself with old egbb works fine. Cyrano used the old egbb endgame bases (easy to see with the information engine give out). But with 4-pieces on the board the engine crashed and the GUI made nothing :-(

Now I try out the programmer version of Cyrano. First two games runs without any problems.

Other problem I think I will have with Redqueen.
RedQueen gave mate in 10 and made nothing, engine lost on times. Much engines have such problems, I believe the most people are playing without resign mode and have not see it. In SWCR all games are playing without resign. Hm, let me look in the next win games by Redqueen.

Re: SWCR: RedQueen 1.0.0 w32 replaced with Brutus 8.05 w32

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

now in 3 of 3 games RedQueen crashed with GUI. In all games before RedQueen set mate :-(

So I must replace the first one:

Brutus 8.05 w32 replaced Redqueen 1.0.0 w32.

With Cyrano I have the same problems here.

1. First try:
JA version with old EGBB ... crashed with GUI

2. Second try:
Programmer version with old EGBB ... crashed with GUI

3. Third try:
Now the programmer version without the old EGBB.

But I believe I have to replace the next one in the next hour.

Hi there,

Brutus 8.05 replace with Hamsters 0.71.
Some problems with Brutus, seems engine is after a match in RAM.

Problems with Cyrano 0.6b17 could be solved after I delete the egbb path from the configuration.

Ruffian Leiden 2003 w32 replaced Ruffian 2.1.0 w32.

Seems the start point from this tourney is a lot of work.

Re: SWCR: Switched from ProDeo 1.6 to ProDeo 1.7

Hi there,

I made some other changes and reported all on my News page in German language.

But no more changes in the programs I used. All seems to works fine now. Since today in the morning no GUI crash. Delfi have some problems with lose on time games, but I replay such games ... no problem!

Big undertaking Frank. Thanks and looking forward to this one.

Good luck,
Gerold.

P.S. A big plus for running all the old engines. Should be interesting.

Re: SWCR: Switched from WildCat 8 to Amyan 1.72

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi,

much GUI crashes in the night.
2x WildCat 8 and 2x Arasan 13.2

Amyan 1.72 replaced WildCat 8
For Arasan 13.2 I switched from UCI to WB mode.

Often the problems comes with ponder=on, so others don't have such problems.

Hi Gerold,

you are welcome!
Yes, a big undertaking and I have a lot to do in the beginning of this tourney. Different engines made troubles so I must switched to other engines. I think the biggest problem for much programs are the ponder= on mode.

At the moment I have problems with:

1. Delfi ... lost 2 of 20 games on time (such games I replayed).
2. Arasan ... GUI crashed, no more games playing. Hope I can solve this problem with WB mode.

All others works fine now.
