Long Awaited IH 46h v Rybka 4.1

Post by geots »

In the immortal words of WH Mowery, Jr., "Hi Ya'll, I'm back"! And we have a nice match here. (As I am awaiting someone to come fix my new broke "out-of-the-box" dual 64bit.)

1CPU/32bit
128MB hash
Bases=NONE (gave up trying to stop Rybka from using Nalimov)
Ponder_Learning=OFF
Perfect 12.32 book w/12-move limit
40/3 Repeating
Match=50 games

Ivanhoe 46h [PP]..........+42 +14/-8/=28 56.00% 28.0/50

Rybka 4.1........................-42 +8/-14/=28 44.00% 22.0/50

This was PeterPan's 46h compile- next we will compare the 46h compile by KLO. As it has been proven (in small sample so "proven" not the best word- tho I aint gonna change it), PeterPan is a bit more of a risk taker- so we shall see what the differences are here.

If all who are so enthusiastic about the PGNs would make a small donation of a few bucks to a good cause: "GNSH".....................

PGNs always available and delivered on time--

Enjoy,

george

Notice the scores tallied by Ivanhoe 46f and Ivanhoe 46h against Rybka 4.1 are basically mirror images of each other. Either this is another 50 games to add to proven performance, or the versions are very similar, or lastly- who cares? We shall have a better idea after 100,000 more games.

Hi Maestro George !

Yes, Ivanhoe 46h is a superb chess engine ! In my test I use both Robbo Total & RobboTriple (Nalimov for Deep Rybka 4.1). And PeterPan is a nice guy & expert. A very good one ! Hope soon he will be the owner of a new chess engine - programmed by himself ! :wink:

All the best,
SilvianR

Don't misunderstand me, Ruxy. I think you do a great job. It is just that from where I stand, Robbo bases and triple bases that take up the enormous amount of hard drive space they do- to get at best 15 elo gain, but probably less than 10 elo normally- the space it takes is not worth the end result- not even close. Especially when you add that RobboLito and IvanHoe with NO bases can play better endgames because of built in knowledge than most engines can play using Nalimov or Gaviota.
