An Astounding Stockfish vs. Fire Match!!

Post by geots »

Saying again that all these matches are 32bit. When my 64bit dual is ready, that will change. And possibly all results I have seen on Immortal Forum with either of these engines were 64bit versions. But still, for whatever reason, I did not expect this outcome. Not so much the outcome- which was up in the air from where I stood- but the emphatic outcome. When you talk about Fire 2.2, you are not discussing some pushover that engines look forward to meeting. Well, here you go:

1CPU/32bit
128MB hash
Bases=NONE
Ponder_Learning=OFF
Perfect 12.32 book w/12-move limit
40/3 Repeating
Match=50 games

Stockfish 2.1.1 [JA]........+56-------+14/-6/=30------58.00%------29.0/50

Fire 2.2 xTreme...............-56--------+6/-14/=30-----42.00%------21.0/50

I knew that Tord and his group had done wonderful and exciting things with Stockfish. And I know where all versions of this engine are rated in CCRL. I did not just ride in on the turnip truck, looking at unfamiliar engines. But seeing it in a rating list and watching it play are quite different. I think the next match is obvious:

Stockfish 2.1.1 vs. Ivanhoe B47f0.2

I may be the only one whose interest is peaked now, but I cannot wait until I wake up and see the results from this match!!

Again, PGNs available at: geotsp8@yahoo.com for those who have completely run out of anything better to do.
