Last night the results were posted in which Stockfish 2.1.1 cruised to an evidently easy victory over Fire 2.2 xTreme. Tho Stockfish is certainly extremely, extremely strong- I was mildly surprised by the margin of the outcome. Maybe more than mildly surprised. BTW, in cases you missed it, those results are still on this page.
So I decided Stockfish 2.1.1 had earned a shot at one of the best. And that would be Ivanhoe B47f0.2- no question about that. Remembering these are 32bit results- as I have not started the 64bit versions yet- this version is simply right now the best among a group that contains no "weak releases".
As I said, Stockfish 2.1.1 played its way into a shot at the best Ivanhoe version we have yet to see. Well, here you go.............................
1CPU/32bit
128MB hash
Bases=NONE
Ponder_Learning=OFF
Perfect 12.32 book w/12-move limit
40/3 Repeating
Match=50 games
Ivanhoe B47f0.2 [PP].......+70-----+21/-11/=18-----60.00%-----30.0/50
Stockfish 2.1.1..................-70------+11/-21/=18-----40.00%-----20.0/50
I suppose I could say something here, but what would it add to the above results. Ivanhoe B47f0.2 walks thru another extremely strong program like it is just an afterthought.
Enjoy, depending on who you are-

Sorry only 50 games. I will up it to half a million as soon as possible.

PS: Yea, I realize it was only 32bit, Stockfish did not get to use his comprehensive book, the time limit was not conducive to really accurate results, it was only 50 games- meaning Stockfish would have possibly caught and passed him by game 50,000, the hash setting was all wrong, and it was not a full moon.

Coming Up: Can Stockfish Get A Bit Of Redemption?
Stockfish got a chance to redeem himself a bit, as I slept, after the beating he took last night. Was he successful? Results shortly.

Re: Coming Up: Can Stockfish Get A Bit Of Redemption?
Hi, stockfish 2.1.1 is a pretty old engine ( i think may 2011). With all these IvanHoes i doubt it can win a match. Otherwise i think there are better stockfish compilations than ''the original''.geots wrote:Stockfish got a chance to redeem himself a bit, as I slept, after the beating he took last night. I bet on IvanHoe.
Besides running these matches, I test for CCRL as well. As far as I know, no one has another "newer" version there. If so, it hasn't been tested. I don't know of any "official" releases by Tord that is newer than I am running here. I imagine you refer to some "tweaked" experiments, as I have seen a few strange Stockfish names. I doubt they came from Tord. If you personally know of any- I would be more than happy to give it 50 games if you can get it to me.
Best,
george

Probably a safe bet, but the problem is I also test for CCRL, and as far as I know- no one there has a newer version. At least it has not been tested. But that doesn't surprise me, as we wisely there only stay with original releases by the author. I know you are referring to some tweaked compiles by other people- as I have seen a few strange Stockfish names. If you can get me any 32bit compile other than 2.1.1- my 64bit not ready yet- I would be more than willing to give it 50 games.
Best,
gts
PS: I have no idea what is wrong with this forum at the moment. It has created 2 threads I did not exactly post. Maybe they are late paying the electric bill.
