As promised- last night Stockfish 2.1.1 was clobbered by a very strong Ivanhoe version that scored +70, astounding against Stockfish. Tonight he gets a shot at a newer version, where "newer" is less important than what, in the words of Norman, the "good ole boys" are used to. At any rate, any victory over an Ivanhoe version should not be taken lightly. At any rate, as always, here we go:
1CPU/32bit
128MB hash
Bases=NONE
Ponder_Learning=OFF
Perfect 12.32 book w/12-move limit
40/3 Repeating
Match=50 games
Ivanhoe B46fb [PP]..........0------+12/-12/=26------50.00%------25.0/50
Stockfish 2.1.1..................0------+12/-12/=26------50.00%------25.0/50
A drawn match very well played by Stockfish. I do not know what theory I attribute this to, but in each Ivanhoe victory "going away" he has without exception showed thinking 4 ply on average deeper than his opponent. "Theory" comes in when I say I think that is more important in blitz than in games of long time controls. Tho I could be wrong.
Where this was a draw, it was interesting that the ply depths were almost exact between them. Extremely little difference.
At any rate, a well played match. Stockfish I would think has earned the right to take on an Ivanhoe version that destroyed Rybka 4.1. Stay tuned........................

_No one can hit as hard as life.But it ain’t about how hard you can hit.It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.How much you can take and keep moving forward….

Hi Dr.- I appreciate your interest and comments. When I was out of the loop for a bit, Stockfish had just become a reality. So I knew little about it. I appreciate also your thoughts, because I can look at depth of plys, kns per second, etc.- but I am too busy right now getting two boxes and a 64 bit dual ready for CCRL testing- I just don't have the time to analyze its play as you have done. And what you say I will keep in mind.
Please be on the lookout for my daily match posting- which will come shortly (hour or 2). You will be interested in the engine and the result, tho my money says you are more than familiar with the engine I refer to, where most here are probably not.
Best,
george
