I have nothing really to make comparisons with, as any match results I have seen were few and far between on Immortal Forum. My use consisted only of a few blitz games here and there. This engine is an enigma to me, from source to strength. The people closest to the Ivanhoe authors, "closest" meaning more so than most of us, have a mixture of disdain and respect for Houdini- as far as I can tell. As for DeepSaros, who knows what anyone really thinks. Talk is thinly veiled. Carotino is quick to credit Ivanhoe for much of his success- but I have no idea what that means. Coupled with the fact I have never seen an Ivanhoe version that could run up a score in a match like this.
Then there is the special "T" version- especially for blitz games if I am correct. Which I did not use. In these days of "if it plays that strong it must be a clone", people will think what they think. Not my job to change anyone's mind.
Starting the match as I got ready for bed, they split victories in the first 2 games. To be honest, even with little to go on, I thought I would wake up to a 2 - 5 game victory for Fritz. What do lawyers call it?- "no precedent". Little did I know that Fritz's victory in Game 2 could be referred to as close to his last- even in one of his home interfaces. To the match:
DeepSaros ver.2.3j vs Fritz 13
1CPU/32bit
128MB hash
Bases=NONE for DeepSaros / Nalimov 3 & 4 for Fritz
Ponder_Learning=OFF
Perfect 12.32 book w/12-move limit
40/3 Repeating
Match=50 games
DeepSaros ver.2.3j........+108........+21/-6/=23......65.00%.....32.5/50
Fritz 13...........................-108........+6/-21/=23......35.00%.....17.5/50
Still juggling this around in my mind. The word "clone" doesn't help- unless it is Houdini with a name change. Maybe I really need to look forward to the promised much stronger combination, SarosVitruvius.
