Re: Stockfish 2.2.1 running for the IPON
Hi Ingo,2012.01.02
I had to stop testing Stockfish 2.2 as this version had an obvious timing bug. The IPON is accepting
losses on time as an "engine feature" which belongs to the playing strenth in a tourney, but it makes
no sence to leave an engine in the list its rating would be worse than the predecessor because of a
very high loss on time rate ... !
you dont want accept time loss, right.
but have you checked the games that my Tornado had played for time losses ?
because many people had reported me that the version 4.80 have to many time losses, that is fixed as long in the next versions, i would be happy if you can replace 4.80 with 4.87a, that is best so far.
i know my updates are to much, i am sorry, but the 4.80 version is really dangrous with a time bug.

Re: Stockfish 2.2.1 running for the IPON
Hello Engine,
Regarding the time losses. My list is accepting time losses as they are part of the engine ... if I have such an obvious problem as e.g. Stockfish 2.2, where while I am running the test the programmers already react AND it is already clear that there will be anewer version soon AND the new version is worse than the presessor because of the bug, than I use some comon sense and hesitate to include the "faulty" engine.
Stockfish 2.2 was on a 5.x% time loss rate at 5 + 3. I am 100% sure that there is no other engine in my list with that rate, but I will check for Tornado today and come back to you with the result.

I did respond in a email send out at 26.10.21011 @ 22.33 but never heard again from you .... I will resend it to your gmx address. (Please tell me if it arives this time - you should check the spam filters of GMX, I dont like them at all!)Engin wrote:its always not possible to download the games from your site to check it by my self, i emailed you one time to send me the pgn file, but you dont response so far to me, why ?

Re: Stockfish 2.2.1 running for the IPON
I have a problem with Critter 1.4 here.
In 39 games I have 16 losses on time, while in 2400 games before there where 6! Something is wrong, I will repeat the full 100 game run after the match ...

Hello Engin,
I just checked, in 2600 games I have 6 games with time losses where Tornado was involved but ... ALL of the 6 games where in favor for Tornado. In other words, Tornado did not lose a single game because of a time loss.
I think that is good news so, have a nice weekend

strange... Critter 1.2 had 2 or 3 time losses in my Bullet-Testrun and none in Blitz (4'+2''). Critter 1.4 no time losses at all.
Now the Stockfish 2.2.1 (64bit, no sse) testrun for NEBB-rankinglists Bullet-speed (60seconds+500ms FischerBonus) is running. At the moment 453 games played. 2 time losses of Stockfish 2.2.1, no time loss of a all opponents (Houdini 2, Houdini 1.5a, Komodo 4, Critter 1.4, Ivanhoe 46fa, Robbolito 0.9, Rybka 4.1).

Yep, something IS wrong with Critter or my setup ... I have no idea what ... Critter has not changed, my setup is the same ...? Even worse - ALL time losses in 850 games are for Critter ...pohl4711 wrote:

Re: Stockfish 2.2.1 running for the IPON
One thing did change! I now used the "FIXED" version for Chessbase ... I don't know if this causes the problem but that is the only change I made.IWB wrote:

I stopped the tourney. I remove the Critter games and start again with the "old" not CB fixed Critter. We will see.

I will not use this version of SF.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.
