RobboLito Hits A Bump In the Road!

Post by geots »

Strelka 5.1 vs. RobboLito 0.10 SMP w32

Strelka stops RobbLito's winning streak. However, it was not a big surprise. I have seen a couple rating lists that have Strelka 5.1 in 2nd place behind Houdini. Whether he belongs there or not, it certainly means he is more than enough competition for most any program out there.

1CPU/32bit
128MB hash
Bases=NONE
Ponder_Learning=OFF
Perfect 12.32 book w/12-move limit
40/3 Repeating
Match=50 games

Strelka 5.1..........................+35.......+14/-9/=27.......55.00%.....27.5/50

RobboLito 0.10 SMP w32.....-35........+9/-14/=27.......45.00%.....22.5/50

The thing is, I probably could have changed the results in a Strelka win to a draw in game 48.

That would change the result to: +13/-9/=28. But based on the fact that Strelka at the time showed +20.14 and RobboLito showed -7.12, I left it as it was.

Each had a queen, and Strelka had a pawn one move from converting. But RobboLito had the move as white. For 38 moves, he had been able to force Strelka's king to move and/or had the pawn move covered. There was not one reason I could see that would prevent RobboLito from carrying it 12 moves further, where the "50-move rule" would kick in.

I am pretty sure I could have managed it myself- but looking at those projected scores by each, possibly they knew something I didn't. And it wasn't going to change the outcome of the match anyway...............

Strelka 5- w32 vs. Ivanhoe 46h- w32. After 400 games TC 5/3.
Tied. 3 times as many draws as wins. These two could be the same engine.
They are tied for 3rd place behind the number one Houdini and number 2 Critter.

Best,
Gerold.

It is rather interesting that Ivanhoe 46h, Strelka 5.1 and Ivanhoe B46e each played a 50 game match against Rybka 4.1 in my games.

46h scored +42

Strelka 5.1 scored +70

B46e scored +75

Which looks to me to be about right where they belong. But I came to this conclusion from very similar results ag. 3 other common opponents. As to Strelka's origin- sort of like trying to figure out Barack Obama's origin.

In the end, you and I will agree on one thing: At this point in time, Houdini and Critter are just on another planet from the rest. I see only one programmer alive who has any chance to pass them. I'm sure you can easily figure that one out. :wink:

Best,

george

PS: It finally dawned on me why you and I see so many different issues in the same light- we could easily drive to the other's house in less than a day.

Yes wish Vas would start to work on the new Rybka. Be interesting to see if Houdini can be topped.

Not a doubt in my mind Vas will wave to Robert as he passes.
