First Deep Fritz 13 Results I Have Seen!

Post by geots »

Just noticed it in someone else's testing. Throw out the 5 drawn games, and Houdini 2.0c x64 beat DF13 by a score of 15 - 0!! Does this really surprise anyone- rhetorical.

I certainly hope the authors of Fritz, Shredder and Hiarcs all have day jobs!

I wouldn't count Shredder out so quickly. Shredder 12 is about 3 years old now (is that right?) and it is still in the top ten at CCRL.

And Shredder still has fairly original analysis compared to other engines. (and ShredderClassic is still my favorite GUI).

Shredder may never be champ again BUT it is still an incredibly worthy engine.

I am also curious about Hiarcs 14 and the new Hiarcs GUI.

I do fear that Junior has seen its best days. :(

You are right in that sense. Sometimes I catch myself criticizing an engine if it can't beat Houdini, Critter and Komodo. Just being in the top 10 is quite an accomplishment with what's out there today.

What is even more interesting is that Zappa Mexico II is still in the top twenty and it is ancient by engine standards!!

In fact on the multi-core list on CCRL Zappa is number 12!

Zappa is STILL one of my favorite engines for analysis. It ain't the flashiest but it is very reliable.

And we shouldn't forget Naum 4.2 which is also fairly old and still hanging in the top 10-15 or so.

Only thing with Naum- I would hold off giving it much cpu time until the dust settles. The smart money says it is probably next in line to be scrutinized after Loop and Thinker.
