Rating list - CCRL

Post by Hood »

Hi,
there are MP and SP, 32b and 64b programs on the list.
How the testing works when MP faces SP. Is MP run on 1 processor or
MP runs many processors while SP is running only 1?

For the SP list all MP engines run on one processor. Everything else would not allow a fair comparison.

The MP engine uses multiple processors while the SP engine is, of course, limited to 1 cpu. You will find that for engines that are MP capable, we will try to test it with it set to use 1 cpu, 2 cpus, 4 cpus, and even possibly 6 cpus. So the same engine will have a rating for each of those multiple cpu settings.

When we test, we try to test an engine + cpu setting against all engines of comparable strength (no more than 300 Elo apart). So, if an engine using 4 cpus is close in strength to an engine set at 1 cpu, then they will play each other.

Of course, a careful look at the actual matches played will turn up gaps. We try to fill in the gaps so that every engine, for all cpu settings, plays all engines close in strength to it.

Thanks.

That explains that on the top of the list are 4CPU engines.

So Strielka SP position is showing its strength among MP's ?

The 32b engine run on 64b system is using emulation mode. It slows its performance. Is that compensated somehow?
