Announcement: Daily CC tournament

Post by jshriver »

I'm running my own ICS now and feel confident it will run solid and nearly 100% automated.

I'm running 5 0 blitz tourneys now with around 10-14 engines for fodder (1 core each).

It's FICS based, well H.G. Muller ICS based, and open to anyone who wants to use it.

The info is on my website which lists the overall elostat statistics + IP/port.

Email me for an account jshriver <at> gmail.com I'm quick to reply. Just tell me your name and I'll reply with a randomly generated pwd. You can change by typing password in the ICS.

TL;dr FICS based ICS 72.241.228.75 port 5000 (dynamic IP but rarely changes)

For those using winboard remove the timeseal line from your connection settings.

/icshelper=timeseal

Not sure yet but it's causing problems when connecting. Something I'll have to look into.

Thanks for your time.

There should be a timeseal decoder included with the installation (installed in the bin directory). When you start the ICS, you should use the arguments '-T bin/ts_dec' (or however it is called; I think I renamed it). Only then it will be able to handle clients that connect through timeseal.

Note that you can have the confirmation e-mails (with password) sent automatically; the ICS puts them all in a spooler directory. You can start up a script to send all files that appear there, by feeding them into a mail utility.

Are there any engine that people would like to see added? I still have several cores available to add. But depending what I add mainly depends on the OS I install on the host. My linux engines are pretty well maxed so thinking about adding more windows based engines.

I'm excited by the myriad of people who've responded to this post. At least 8 original engine authors have accounts there, and growing. :)

At this point I'm running 5 0 every hour 24/7 since a full swiss tournament last about 45minutes or so and I can run one every hour. But I've also done 30 0 and willing to do any time control.

If there is a specific time control you want let me know. Thinking about setting 5 0 as the default for 24/7 runs, but maybe on Sat/Sun doing longer time controls.

Up for commentary :)

Enjoy, will keep it up as long as I can.

I've also modified my gamebot code, to include more information in the PGN header like time. If there is more data you all would like me to collect please let me know willing to develop it and share what data I get; all via my website.

Thank you very much will look into it. Also thank you for the code you've contributed that has made this possible. I've greatly enjoyed running my own ICS for years, but now that I've made it a major hobby it's even more important.

Right now it's recording all games (assuming no hiccups) and will post monthly pgn's of all games played for posterity sake.
I mean not to take away from your own monthly tournaments, but to add to it. I'm an avid Go player as well, and I really dug the cgos server. It's a 24/7 plug in and burn, and thought maybe via your code I could offer the same for chess. Someplace for people to play and test without repercussion and just see what happens.
