A new Romanian chess engine : Flip4IT

Post by Sylwy »

Hello !

Here is:

https://github.com/cosminstefanxp/XBoard-Chess-Engine

The authors:

-Voiculescu Rafaela (yes , a girl !);
-Nita Catalina (huraaaah , the girl number 2 !!!); :lol:
-Stefan-Dobrin Cosmin;
-RizeaDaniel-Octavian .

All are IT students.
Flip4IT was created as a university project in a team of four, it contains a chess engine that is able to play.

From the README file:
Project details:

- developed in C/C++
- uses XBoard for graphical interface

Algorithm & implementation details:
- the engine has a lot of optimizations, for example: bitboards for efficient storage of board details
- uses NegaMax algorithm
- Iterative Deepening
- uses Alpha-Beta Prunning
- uses Quesence Search
- has NegaScout implemented, but not used due to some small bugs that still had to be solved
- has an advanced evaluation function
- uses a moves book for the starting moves

The compilation of Mr. Tony Mokonen is here:

Thank you !

Hi !

After a short match I have found Flip4IT to be over Testina 2.2 of Mr. Sandro Corsini ( around 1166 ELO on ChessWar). Here is a sample:
