The grand unified rating list 2012-12-23

Post by Vinvin »

Time control is about 30 sec to 2 min per move on an AMD 2 Ghz.

Games from CEGT, CCRL, WBEC, SWCR, Chess War, Mega FREEWARE and CountryChess.
Generated with Bayeselo and Ordo 0.6.

Don't forget to look at the error bar (+ and -) !
- If there's no "n-CPU" info, it's 1 CPU.
- If there's no "n-bit" info, it's 32 bit.

All games from players with too few games or meaningless results were removed with Ordoprep.

Total games 1'423'895 (+ 10'962 games in 32 days !)
White wins 527'073
Draws 497'408
Black wins 399'414
No result 0
Unique head to head 15.34%
Reference rating 2810.0 (set to "Spike 1.2")

Thanks for including such a large number of engine versions! I saw that you also included all available versions of "Surprise".

What is your definition of "too few games" for your list?

This is an excellent listing and very useful, particularly interesting to see an up to date view of how the lower elo engines are performing - thanks Vincent

There must be a huge amount of time and effort behind this useful list, Vincent. Thanks for sharing it. :)

20-30 hours work to identify engines and to write simple FreePascal code to make names substitution. Now it takes about 2 hours to make the list (5 minutes human, the computer work hard :-) ).

Engines have played less than 10 games removed.
Please note that there are still a couple of engines left with less than 10 games (most with 9 games, few with 8 or 7). No problem for me of course, just a hint.

A tricky issue might be that after removing those engines with <10 games, including also all their games, there might now be others whose game count drops below 10. A possible solution might be to always keep all games but to skip listing those engines with <10 games in the rating list. I don't know whether that is better but at least it is an algorithm that terminates quickly without the need for several iterations ;-)

Nevertheless, thanks again for your tremendous effort!

Thanks Vincent for this really great list!

Just one little thing: which are the latest included CountryChess games? I played with WaDuuttie 14nov2012 in my Dutch tournament and the latest version in your list is 13-05-2012; just wondering.

Geert
