Komodo 5 MP

Post by drbob »

I think the question has been asked, but perhaps I missed the answer. When might those of us who purchased Komodo 5 anticipate the MP version to be available? It's been a while. Thanks.

Don Daley seems too busy looking clones and derivatives.

Still has promised some 200 versions of Komodo,
That if any with MP.

Hopefully once and for all devote their talent
as promised, MP version.

Good luck, Don.

He said he was doing a complete re-write of the code so that it would be better suited for MP among other things. That takes time.

Anxious for the MP version as well. Komodo even in 1 CPU mode is brutal to play against, MP will make it only stronger.

You're probably correct, Albert. However, I'm not technically versed in the development and modification of chess engines, so an update at intervals would make the waiting less tedious.
Appreciate your efforts, Don.

Take a novel and rewrite the entire thing in your own words, respecting plot, characters, and other ideas. That is what he is doing.

Thanks for the illustrative comparison, Albert. So Don's doing a major rewrite. Gotcha. But he's not doing it in Portuguese, right? :Q

No, he's writing in a much harder language.

The problem is that the MP version was part of the "promotion". The MP version had no release date but it was never told the release was going to be so much delayed. And later, because a good reason (rewrite) was delayed even more.

Still, the komodo fans must understand Don. As I see, he is no taking advantage of this. Is more like an calculation error. And is more respectable to not deliver a faulty MP, only to do his part, instead delay and later give a full MP version. Other will give a fake MP and then sell (again) the next MP version.

So, as said in spanish.. Ajo y Agua

For how long have people been talking about Komodo MP? Probably 1 or 2 years. At this point I would just say "don't count on it at any specific timeframe, just be happy when it appears".
