On-line blitz tourney February (CCT test opportunity)

Post by hgm »

To provide a good last-minute (well, OK, 'last-week') testing opportunity to CCT participants, the blitz tourney for February will take place at:

Saturday February 16, 3pm EST (21:00 CET)

For those not present recently: note that I have a new IP address, since I switched provider! So to connect you now need a different command:

winboard -zp -ics -icshost 83.163.204.254 -icshelper timeseal -fcp ENGINE.exe -fd ENGINEFOLDER -autoKibitz

(for UCI engines, add -fUCI)[/quote]

I was able to log in with that command line. Sending the var command I get the following.

Code: Select all

fics% var
Variable settings of Deuterium:

time=2      private=0     shout=1         pin=0           style=12
inc=12      jprivate=0    cshout=1        notifiedby=0    flip=0
                          kibitz=1        availinfo=0     highlight=0
rated=1     automail=0    kiblevel=0      availmin=0      bell=0
ropen=1     pgn=0         tell=0          availmax=0      width=89
open=1                    mailmess=0      gin=0           height=24
simopen=0   tourney=0     Lang=English                    Prompt: fics%

Formula: !wild & computer & time=45 & inc=10
fics%
And after a date command.

Code: Select all

fics% date
Local time     - Sat Feb 16, 12:46 CET 2013
Greenwich time - Sat Feb 16, 11:46 GMT 2013
fics%
So I am around 8 hrs and 14 minutes away for the blitz tourney.

I want to join this blitz tourney, do the variable values are enough?
What about for CCT15, what are the required formula and var values?
Thank you.

Most variables are not important at all. You might want to set tell=1 if you want to see tells from guests that come to observe the games. The tourney variable is automatically set by mamer (but must not yet be set when you try to join a new tourney).

As to the formula: For the blitz tourney the current value will obviously not work, as we will play 5+1 or 5+2 or something like that (depending on how many people show up). I am not sure if mamer pays attention to the formula, however. But if you miss an automatic start, or have to restart after a disconnect, it is better to have the proper formula. It would still be ignored when you start a game yourself, so it is not a 100% guarantee against manually starting wrong games. Such a guarantee does nott exist anyway, as you could always start a game with the wrong color!

Here is my revised formula and variable to hopefully accommodate the blitz tourney and the CCT15.

Code: Select all

Variable settings of Deuterium:

time=5      private=0     shout=1         pin=1           style=12
inc=5       jprivate=0    cshout=1        notifiedby=0    flip=0
                          kibitz=1        availinfo=0     highlight=0
rated=0     automail=1    kiblevel=0      availmin=0      bell=0
ropen=1     pgn=1         tell=1          availmax=0      width=89
open=1                    mailmess=0      gin=1           height=24
simopen=0   tourney=0     Lang=English                    Prompt: fics%

Formula: !wild & computer & time>=5 & time<=50 & inc>=1 & inc<=3
fics%
pgn=1, and automail=1 for the games to be sent in my email address in pgn format.
pin=1, so I may know the user that connects and disconnects.
gin=1, notified when games begin or end.
rated=0, I am not sure which is correct, hopefully it will not interfere in the pairing in the tourney, either auto pairing or starting a game using the match command. Sometimes sending a match command to the opponent will not work because the opponent is doing something or in a different tourney.

I'm working on a fix for "GameBot" but planning to watch CCT this weekend and have my recording bot there as well, so that games are recorded and can be available after it's over.

Ah, good question. I was so busy the past days I forgot to think of it. But yes!
