Let's see who is holding the big end of the stick in this match-up. Update will be given tonight. Possibly there may be some surprises in store. Time will tell..........

Toga II 3.0 v Zappa Mexico II x64- First UPDATE!
First update, and we are deep into the match. These are not final results- and 1 match is not the "be all and end all" of everything. But to this point, in CEGT 40/4 the closest Toga to Zappa Mexico II x 64 is 37 elo below. And I am pretty much sure CEGT is benching 40/4 to 40/3 repeating. I doubt seriously they are running slow hardware. Obviously it is highly unlikely this match will end with Toga winning by EXACTLY the 30 elo he is at now. But at the moment, anyway- that puts him 67 elo above CEGT's top 40/4 Toga.
**One note- I am under the assumption that when CEGT benches for 40/4- if a machine shows 40/2- they still do not run faster than 40/3. If I am wrong- my apologies and I stand corrected. After 139 games:
Inspiron 620 Intel i5-4 True Cores
Fritz 11 gui
1CPU/64-bit [32-bit for Toga]
128MB hash
Bases=NONE
Ponder_Learning=OFF
Perfect 2012b.ctg w/12-move limit
40/3 Repeating
Match=200 games
I am anxious to see the final results here-
george

Hi George,
BTW: Our actual Toga II 3.0 test with 1CPU and 40/3 repeated can be followed here: http://cegt.siteboard.eu/f6t768-testing ... i-3-0.html
+59 to Toga II 1.4.2JD / +62 to Toga II 2.02 / +72 to Toga II 1.4 beta5c
BUT: 500 games only!!! This evening we'll have 800 and hopefully 1200 on thursday.
this is correct!geots wrote:...And I am pretty much sure CEGT is benching 40/4 to 40/3 repeating.
this is correct too. Gerhard and me decided not to run faster than 40/3 with our current hardware level, i.e. ~ 3GHZ. Future will tell, if we keep this going...**One note- I am under the assumption that when CEGT benches for 40/4- if a machine shows 40/2- they still do not run faster than 40/3. Thanks Wolfgang. I did not see that when I checked the latest 40/4. All I got was the 1.4.2JD ( ironically Jerry's also I assume) to compare to Zappa. Thanks much for this link.
All the best,
george

Toga II 3.0 test just started this week after our last update from March 23rd, so the new version is not yet listed. This will be the case with next update, approx. April 6th or 7th (?!)

BTW, Wolfgang- I think going no faster than 40/3 is fine. And I also think along with that, 40/2 would be fine. Either, as long as it is consistent across the board.
However, I would for sure cut it off at 40/2, and under no circumstances run it faster than that- just on principle. But that's just me.
Always the best to you-
george

Re: Toga II 3.0 v Zappa Mexico II x64- First UPDATE!
Thank you very much Wolfgang for testing Toga II 3.0! Especially as my previous release (Toga II 2.02) was not (much of) an improvement (although it is catching up to 1.4.2JD and I think would overtake it with enough games).Wolfgang wrote:Hi George,

Toga II 3.0 v Zappa Mexico II x64- FINAL RESULTS!
Match has finished, and tho the elo difference dropped off a few points in the last quarter of the match, the first results look promising. With CEGT having Zappa 37 elo above, I believe 1.4.2JD, this initial result would put Toga 3.0 60 elo above 1.4.2JD (I wonder who JD is
) But as Wolfgang said, there will be more results rolling out, so we shall see.
