FICS 1999-current download

Post by jshriver »

Since I created my own torrent site on the OICS server. I'm curious,.... especially for book burners who LOVE tons of PGN data.

Would it be useful to make a torrent of it? I know ficsgames.com allows downloading, but that REALLY hits there servers, and not sure if they REALLY allow going back to 1999.

I am an early guy, I have the complete marcelk dataset... plus "pre-ficgames" set... and EVERY one from then..

I love and respect this dataset.. hell I keep it on 3x duplicate set.. on RAID and outside RAID "just in case" much like my EGTB collection.

Anyway... curious should I make a torrent?

My home connection isn't "great"... but better than nothing.

Given this post.. maybe I could arrange a "download time".

The great thing about torrents is mass "downloading/resharing"

So if there were enough, even say 10 ppl, who would REALLY love the complete FICS 1999-current set.... I could arrange a weekend when I could let it go WILD.

Curious of your inputs.

Hello

If you have an estimate of the (reasonable) size of the file (I hope well-compressed) and you could give me a direct download link, so I can make a mirror at a One-Click-Hoster

In my opinion, doing this now will delay the spread of "Syzygy 6men"

I am highly interested in your game collection Joshua. Please offer it as a torrent!

Capital punishment would be more effective as a preventive measure if it were administered prior to the crime.

I am interested in high-level games. Personally, I don't have a use for all the FICS games, including low-rated players.
