Nice effort by Gull 3.0

A quick run thru the SilverSuite openings went well for Gull 3.0

In my tests I got similar results. New Gull 3 seems slightly stronger than Komodo TCEC and somewhat weaker than Houdini 4 and Stockfish.

Just to be fair , I ran a second test , same exact conditions
i7/940 , 2 threads ea , ponder off , no tablebases , SilverSuite openings
Time control : 2 mins + 1 sec

I don't make up the results , I just report them .........
Besides , a single 100 game run doesn't mean much.......
FWIW , I've run SilverSuite 5 times now , and total is :

Komodo TCEC - 252.5 , +124 = 257 - 119
Gull 3.0 - 247.5


Pretty close ...........

Hope this gets me to at least the +.05 level on the Effort Meter .......

No, on the contrary. His approach is scientific. By redoing the experiment, he shows how much random noise lies in a 100 game match. Overall his result show that Gull 3 is about on par with Komodo TCEC. Of course, no precise conclusion can be drawn with such a small sample, but it gives a ballpark. It's quite an achievement for an engine written from scratch to reach that level.
