Very nice result for Stockfish! Thanks Stefan for doing the test! I was eagerly waiting for the result, because it is the only way at the moment, besides the testing here by Tom Casanovas, and less regular testing reported by several users like Mark, that we can get data about how stockfish development version fares against foreign competition. Even though of course we have a lot of data about Stockfish 5 now from sites testing the official release, the search has changed since then immediately after the official release and the question was if the new symmetric search from Lucas would be less effective if the opponents are not as strong as Stockfish itself. I expected that to be the case but it can not be shown from your data which is only good news for the idea!pohl4711 wrote:Stockfish 140606 testrun finished - very nice result...

I do stil think that some of the effect may be there, but it may actually now be very small. I do not know that accurately, it is just my personal guess.
So my congratulations for the contributors to this new dev. version, to Lucas Braesch for his search changes, to Reuven Peleg for his SEE looking back in time and to Marco for applying and directing it all and some important rewriting of the code, especially in the symmetric King safety from Lucas! It is not an official new Stockfish but still an important version!

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

The next testrun is in progress. After 2000 games Stockfish 140611 seems to be around 5-6 Elo stronger than Stockfish 140606, which would be a very nice result for only one new functional patch ("add bonus for advanced lever"). But still 3000 games to play.
Result (probably) on monday.
