Hi Gerhard,

just out of interest, is Leto using 8 physical cores or 4 cores with 8 threads?

Regards,
Graham.

From one of his other posts in the general forum, he is probably using an AMD FX8300.

The results will be very interesting, I'm looking forward to them.

The AMD might be 8 real cores, but they are structured as 4 modules with 2 cores each. The two cores in each module share certain resources. So they lose efficiency compared to a CPU that doesn't have those shared resources, but I'm not sure how much that affects chess.

+1

Just I'd like to add,
To be sure 100 % about the chess speed of AMD has real 8 cores or not .... We need to test in Auto232 mode: AMD 8c vs Intel 6c

Better would be AMD FX8300 8 cores vs AMD Phenom II X6 6 cores

But it is 8 cores, kudos for testing with 8. I'm keen to see the results on the CEGT list, and the improvement from 4 cores.

The new update is online now:

Keep the less number of games for some engines in mind !
