Hi there,
the FCT1 qualification will be start October 12th, 2014 ~ (00:00):
Have a look under:
Detail site: http://www.amateurschach.de/main/_qualification.htm
News 107: http://www.amateurschach.de/main/_news.htm#107
Conditions: http://www.amateurschach.de/main/_conditions.htm
The qualification is splitted in 5 tourneys.
That is more interesting as to play all in one, 10.500 games in one tourney. Much more interesting to compare later 5 tournament tables.
Each of the 5 tourneys need around 8 days.
10 games per match x 20 opponents = 200 games per engine = 2.100 games per tournament (x5).
1/5 Qualification tourney:
http://www.amateurschach.de/ftptrigger/ ... ion_1.html
After 100 games (around each 4 days) I will create a new tournament table / rating list. Results will be added in this thread and on my webpage. Game download is possible after a tourney ended, around each 8 days.
To all 21 programmers ...
Have fun!
I will have it and thanks again for all the wonderful engine developments. Unfortunately, I can't test all interesting engines but for the moment I added a lot of new engines.
Best
Frank
PS:
All is clear for take off on runway FCT1.
I hope I made not mistakes in all the configurations (many new engines are fresh installed).
The configuration files of participant FCT1 engines can be found in my database download file (after the still running Junior 13.3.00 test-run), v1.15 on my download area. This will be available in the night.

Re: FCT1: Qualification 1/5 ...
Hi there,
yesteday in the night I am starting my "Qualification" and I had directly some problems. Must changed a lot.
1. Dirty replaced with Godel
Directly in the first two games 2 time loses after move number 39 with the time control 40 moves in 10 minutes. The time management is very hard for Shredder Classic GUI with WB2uci adapter I think.
2. With Scorpio I have problems.
Often Engine cann't see an very easy mate combination. After 21 games in the still running tournament I found three of such games. Not sure what I should do. Replace with 2.76 or ignore or replace with an other engine?
3. Rodent 1.4 have the same problem Rodent 1.5 have with the different that Shredder GUI don't crashed. 2-5 moves before Rodent can set mate engine lost on time. To see at the moment in one of the won games. Easy to handle ... can make the correction by hand in my torunament table and database.
4. ICE lost one game on time. Same in FCT1 after 1.250 games (three of 1.250 games iCE lost on time). Perhaps the time management is a very Little to hard too.
Such game loses I replayed!
I think the qualification can run.
Point 2 only (Scorpio) is a problem.
All other - for me - new engines works fine at the moment!
Atlas is very strong and Cheng are playing very interesting chess. Arasan clearly improved to the latest version I am looking for around three years.
I think I will have a lot of fun!
Best

Re: FCT1: Qualification 1/5 ...
Hi Frank,
I intend to work a bit on the time management for the next version, not to counter the lagging (that is not my fault) but because I think that using all the time on a move just because it is the last move before TC is not the best usage of time. As a side effect it will ease the lagging problem a bit. So it is on the todo list but not at the top currently.
Thomas...
iCE has a very aggressive time management. It uses in general all of the remaining time on the last move before time control. It leaves a safety buffer of 100 ms to counter some lags but if the lag is bigger the GUI will forfeit in on time as it thinks iCE overstepped the time.4. ICE lost one game on time. Same in FCT1 after 1.250 games (three of 1.250 games iCE lost on time). Perhaps the time management is a very Little to hard too.

Hi Graham,
OK, same I do with SmarThink and it works.
Good idea!
I found in 7 games moves Scorpio directly lost.
At the moment all this games replayed.
Scorpio.ini changed!
But if I see the same Problem without the own endgame databases I will replaced Scorpio.
Best

No, same problem.
I don't know what is wrong.
Maybe a problem with the adapter with Shredder Classic GUI?
Tucano isn't strong enough for that field too.
Tucano and Scorpio will be replaced in the next minutes with Spark and Glaurung. To many work to manage the Scorpio problem in a still running tournament. Will search with more time ... and test the engine later.

Pretty sure that I struck problems too when using the wb2uci adapters with it.

In two games problems with Version 1.4 POP Build 2 x64 and time loses.
Second game could be random ... time loses (edit to draw).
First game you find the problem I found out (edit to won).
Thanks Pawel!
