A blade server with 4,096 cores each running at 4 Ghz with 64 GB of memory per core would make an O.K. beginners system I guess. And, when you become more advanced you can always add more blades!

What did you say your budget was?

If it's limited then you can get a 12-36 core system for under $10,000 depending on exact specs.

If you have a $2K budget then 8-cores @ 4+ Ghz with 32 gb ram will still get you above 10,000,000 nodes a second using SF.

For a $1K budget you could still get a Intel Core i7-5820K and overclock it to 4.5 to 5.5 Ghz range, assuming you already have a monitor, key board, and mouse.

For less than a $1K you can get an i5-4690K system. If properly over clocked you can approach 10M nodes/sec (or more).

The cheapest systems will be AMD based but they will be the slowest as well.
