Engine/author nationality list

Post by Ferdy »

Do we have a list of engine or author nationality?
I plan to create a tool to make an olympiad team of 4, or 5 or 6 boards.
Top 3, or 2 or perhaps 1 program from each federation can not be transferred to federation with less players.
The idea of transferring players is to as much as possible balance the average strength of each team using CCRL 40/4 rating list single thread as reference.

You will see that we try to identify this for each engine on our lists, for example

http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/40 ... 130_64-bit

If you let me know your email address, I'll send you the appropriate configuration file. We don't have it for all engines/authors, and there could be the odd inaccuracy perhaps.

For example they are - at least - two Romanian ethnics & authors of chess engines having the citizenship of other countries. And their chess engines aren't counted like Romanian (Plisk, Barbarossa).
A large scale example: Mr. Alexandr Naumov is a Serbian ethnic (the nationality). In all the lists his engine - Naum - is considered to be Canadian (the citizenship of Mr.Naumov) !
A hard problem !

Yes, there are some grey areas and interpretation issues.
