FICS computer account

Post by brtzsnr »

How does one get a computer account on FICS?

I did what it was required here http://www.freechess.org/Help/HelpFiles ... r_app.html three times already (Nov, January, May) but I did not get any reply from them. I also thing my first two emails should have been processed already.

Code: Select all

You should be approved first, I just applied for crazyhouse variant this first week of May, no reply yet.

The first time I applied it took about 1 week to get an answer. The last time took like 3 months or so.
Took more than 3 months for a friend of mine and about 3 months for another friend.
When the account "computers" is logged in, he checks the email and approve/disapprove requests. The problem is that he may do so for 1 account per login and logs in once every 3 months or so. Sometimes he seems much less busy.
So the answer is that yes, you just have to wait and hope he will approve.

They normally only provide these accounts to authors of programs. Otherwise, FICS would be full of computers!

I have to wait more for the decision. Even the final decision is not guaranteed.

correct, I only go one a while back becauce years back I had one there and they resurrrected it, kind of like I was grandfathered in but you have to be like he said

FICS sucks. Why even bother with them? They are free of course but its services still suck.

That is both lame and ridiculous. What a pile of garbage.

Yeah, perfectly ridiculous, in a day and age where there is no shortage of free, excellent onlinechess sites on the Web !
Why even bother, I say.
