Can anyone suggest a good quad core laptop for chess? Is Intel better than AMD for chess?
Thanks.

What do you want to use it for?
Analysis?
Online play?

There's no contest for Intel vs AMD, Intel beats it hands down.JohnS wrote:Can anyone suggest a good quad core laptop for chess? Is Intel better than AMD for chess?

They were around a while ago but they silently pulled them as probably no one was buying them. I remember seeing them all around and then POOF no one was selling them. I am going to look around later but I was just looking at some just a while ago, just got up, making breakfast.shrapnel wrote:Yep, no contest.Terry McCracken wrote:There's no contest for Intel vs AMD, Intel beats it hands down.

They are out there but scarce. I remember them being out there but who would really buy it? We would in a heartbeat because we're computer chess nuts and the programs can take advantage of the multi cores and faster is better usually.
Hmm, that bugs me cause I know not to long ago (2 mos. ago) I was looking at some and I was surprised to see that you could order them. I'll look later on today. Gotta do some bicycling. I have to keep this Greek, Adonis-like body in shape

You can find the owners of such by going to the local swimming pool. Look for those with bandages across their thighs caused by severe burns. Or look for those madly looking for electrical outlets since their batteries only last for 15 minutes.reflectionofpower wrote:They were around a while ago but they silently pulled them as probably no one was buying them. I got around this problem by using non-conductive pants/long shorts and utilizing a solar powered battery pack. It's a hit among the upper echelons of society. Right now we're sipping martini's by the pool. Bob, you're welcome to pop by if you want.bob wrote:You can find the owners of such by going to the local swimming pool. We also have sizzling eye candy for waitresses that serve us hand & foot. It looks like they are totally nude but they are wearing my new invention, ClearWear© -- "Not seeing is believing" is the sales pitch.
