Initial conditions:
I have the Deep Fritz 14 GUI installed under Windows 8.1.
My screen resolution is 1920x1080. I have a 21.5 inch monitor.

Now under F14, when I start a new tournament, and select an engine for participation and press the edit button, the following happens.
Instead of seeing the buttons for book and endgame usage I only see the list of engines and two buttons, 'Advanced' and 'Cloud' covering the lower part of the list. Now by clicking on 'Advanced' I inadvertently select the engine covered by the 'Advanced' button.

I remember having had this problem under Vista and somehow I managed to solve it by tampering with display settings but I have forgotten what I did at the time.

Anyone here having a helpful idea? Thanks in advance.
My solution won't solve the GUI problem but might do what you intend to accomplish.

sol 1:
Run the program in a normal functioning environment maybe Win7 or WinXP. Click on the main window of Fritz then count how many tabs and arrow keys you need to press to accomplish what you want. (example: tab + down arrow key + tab + tab + tab + enter + down + enter + down + enter + tab + enter)
after getting the exact count and action you've done, do it in your F14 > Win8 system.

sol 2:
There is a tool in Win7 and Vista and WinXP found at start > all programs > accessories > accessibility > Magnifier (that might help pinpoint some parts of the screen).

sol 3:
Try to temporarily check other screen resolution, F14 might function on some screen resolution properly.
