Perfectly?

Is it 64 bits?
Does it use more than 1GB of hash?
Does it even reach 95% CPU utilization?
Doesn't it require .NET 4.5 (it still doesn't run on my XP SP2).

As Alfil 15.8 is now open source - perhaps someone here can please help with a 64bit compile?

thanks

1.-For instant only 32-bit.
2.-Yes - 4GB.
3.-It is in tests.
4.-No (I think it is written -again- in C++). Works well in my WinXP SP3:

I know it says it supports up to 4GB and 16 threads, but on a Core 2 Quad running W7 SP1, it crashes under the H4 GUI, when giving it more than 1GB in kibitzing mode. Also, it fluctuates around 75% CPU utilization, swinging a lot.

Lacking 64 bit support is a big "but", nowadays, and releasing a 32 bit engine that's not fully XP compatible, seems incongruent (if you have a newer OS, you're likely using the 64 bit version).

It's not all good news, however.

This Alfil version is a little slower and plays visibly weaker chess compared to the previous version (15.7), which was capable of simply amazing play. The great attacking style is no longer evident. I've run the 2 versions side by side, and I'm aghast at the stuff that the new version misses.

I wonder what the heck may have changed in such a short time. :(

Hi Carl !

After a short match I was impressed. Rybka 2.3.2a (w32) - 2921 Elo CCRL 4/40 - was crushed. In great style !
And Alfil 15.8 has the full support for Windows XP !

On my i5-4690K it is about twice as fast as 15.7.
Waiting for the 64-bit version !
