Some of Symbolic's recent games

Post by sje »

I've collected some of Symbolic's recent games played at ICC. Good, bad, and ugly, there's 800+ games for your amusement at: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/316 ... 160103.pgn

Are they good for anything? They might be useful for the preparation of an anti-Symbolic opening book, perhaps.

Three excuses for the low quality of the program's play: 1) the stubby positional scoring is so lacking that it could fit into only a dozen lines of code; 2) pondering is still not implemented; 3) the search is still limited to a single thread.

On the plus side: 1) having lots of tablebase files on a connected SSD helps compensate for the lack of endgame evaluation; 2) the program has never missed any quick mates; 3) the book is fairly wide and deep; 4) the program has never lost on time; 5) Symbolic's Capablanca facility continues to work and so the program can still claim to have never been checkmated.
