LOKASOFT FOR WINDOWS 10

Post by fern »

Recently -or at least for me- it came to the Windows 10 shop old good Lpokasoft program, rated a bit more than 2200, a decent strength.
It is free -with ads- and nice and easy to play.
Positionally it plays not very good chess, but of course has the tactical acumen proper of every engine, so the experience is funny and rewarding.

At least it only cost $2.49 to remove the ads. Seems like a good deal to me. :D

It is.
The weird thing is that though in the settings appear an option to see the PV, it does not appear.

No way to add others engines, but the price -$0 with ads, 2.40 US without- is good enough to get the thing.
I just won a game to this engine due to the most weird reason. I was behind a pawn, but with somewhat better positional structure and some attack and more time to complete the 40 moves, but the engine had only one minute to play 7 moves, so he went mad and tried to win doing all kind of mad sacrifices in order to put me in problems and so to defeat me by time...hahaha .. no way....

Funny

Interesting to here you say that Fern, I had a similar experience when it had less than a minute as well. I had reached a winning position, when it blundered a whole queen. See position below.

I guess I'll give up hoping for a proper successor to Chess Partner 6.0.

I'm sure the Windows 10 freebie is nice enough but CP6 is a fully featured interface and my favorite! But it needs updating.

Clearly, Ted, we are in the presence of two bugs, one very serious, the handling of time, the second very very nasty, that incredible suicidal tendency when it has less than a minute.
Lex should take a look at that.
It is a pity to end a game in that way after a very previous decent fight.
