ChessTiger 2007 still available?

Post by BrendanJNorman »

Hey Guys,

I've been asked by one of my readers to write an engine review of ChessTiger 2007 which also happens to be one of my favourite chess engines (Gambit Suicidal for the win! ), but as happens when I do one of these reviews, I get a lot of people contacting me asking how to get the engine.

I know that lokasoft no longer sells it (and since it is almost ten years old now, maybe nobody does) but am wondering how to respond to this question.

Is there still a way for my audience to purchase CT 2007? Or would Chris give permission for a download link?

Just wanna do the right thing in advance.

Thanks for any information guys. Love this community.
8-)

P.S I'll be posting my review today for those interested in such things.

Several years ago, I contacted Christophe because of a Chess Tiger amelioration for Windows - his answer was:

"pour l´instant je ne sais pas - l´édition pour un autre système d´exploitation a priorité."

to say it with other words: he concentrated his efforts (>further development of CT) on other operations systems than PC-Windows

Schach Niggemann info@schachversand.de in Germany has still an upgrade of Chess Tiger 2007, but obviously only in combination with further Chess Tiger / Lokasoft engines

Loyalty upgrade prices are for registered owners of the following

products (Lokasoft versions only) :

ChessPartner 5.x
Chess Tiger 15
Deep Sjeng 1.0/1.5/1.6
Gandalf 5
Rebel 12
Ruffian 2
To qualify for the upgrade price your customer must have one of the qualifying products properly installed and registered. This is checked during the installation. The system is based on entering a keycode just as with Chess Tiger 15 and Deep Sjeng.

System requirements:

Minimum :

PII 200 or better

64 MB RAM

1 GB Harddisk

Recommended:

PIII 1000 or better

128 MB Ram

10 GB Harddisk

Operating system:

Win98/Me

NT4

W2K/XP Pro or Home

Best wishes,
Norbert

Thanks Norbert.

I have no idea what that means with regard to my question though.

Does this mean that fans of Chess Tiger 2007 who use a PC (and things like Arena/Shredder GUI) have no options to get it now?

Lokasoft is no longer selling UCI engines it seems.

And about the upgrade option.. even if somebody is a paid owner of say... Gandalf 5, will they still have the serial for a purchase they made about 10 years ago?

Its a shame if that were the only option.
