Hello Folkert,

it would be a good idea to explain step-by-step how the .deb-files and .rpm-packages can be installed on your different Linux distributions.

I have mentioned some of them here:
http://computer-chess.org/doku.php?id=c ... ngine_list

You said: The file ending in ".dmg" is for MacOS X. Please do not ask how to install it on a Mac: I have no idea! (if you do: please let me know!)

http://computer-chess.org/doku.php?id=c ... ngine_list is probably a solution.

Best wishes,
Norbert

That would be the same like explaining how to start an .exe file on windows :-)

thanks, the ubuntu 14.04 .deb works fine in xboard with polyglot adapter,
wine could not handle the win64 exe.

A ".dmg" file shows up on mac looking like another volume - you can drag the exe from there and the install it as an engine , or install it as an engine from there.

a picture is worth a thousand words
https://www.dropbox.com/s/4zvxjm33dlpzk ... a.mov?dl=1 - note: 31 MB download before you click ( it's a movie showing the install of Embla as an engine under xboard on a Mac Pro

That looks not too difficult.
I'm only wondering about that /Volume/Embla-part; is that something a typical macosx user will know about? E.g. not an advanced topic?
