Hi there,
all that engines comes with very nice and bigger improvements (last available versions). But now a longer time no updates? I hope that the programmers have all the time fun in engine development. In reality the programmers building a group and shedule a big offensive with here engines. More or less a bomb for the community. OK, exorbitant.
Atlas:
Here a small bug is included. Engine lost on time to often. The time management could be a bit better. Style is interesting and the programmer are on the way with the last update.
Cheng:
One of my favorits. The programmer wrote that he have a 20 Elo stronger version, for around 1 year if I have in my brain. Never I will lost Cheng ... I am sure that he is working on it. A newer version with 5 Elo more ... I will have it.
Deuterium:
Also one of my favorits and Ferdinand do a lot of my site and for the complete community in helping with tools and much other things. Also sure that hat Ferdinand is working all the time on his baby? This work is very very important because I think that Ferdinand is one of the most important programmers for the computer chess future ...
Dirty:
Dirty vs. Cheng and Fire is on the board. Speaking not from Fire engine. Last improvements in Dirty are wonderful. Much more aggressive chess with very nice middlegame ideas. I wish me here also that the programmers don't lost the interest. The Cheng programmer wrote that he like Dirty too ... I know why.
Fire:
Also one of my favorits. Engine is much more aggressive and the last improvements in endgames are very very strong. Programmer wrote for a while around 15 Elo stronger ... the current dev. version. In my opinion the Fire programmer have potential for a TOP-3 engine because I know that he is full of interesting ideas!
The last three years in engine developments was great. So many strong engines in TOP-50 and all what I pick-up comes with interesting playing styles. Normely we have enough for the next 100 years but ... in my interest is not to lost more of programmers because so many programs have potential for clearly stronger chess. Important is only to hold the own style ... think so. Much more important as 50 Elo more.
Best
Frank

Fire 5.x is playing in TCEC and appears markedly stronger than Fire 4.Frank Quisinsky wrote:Hi there,

Be sure ...
It is not his best version!
Can be compare to a stealth bomber!
Part of the big offensive, different programmers sheduled for end of the year.

Sorry to disappoint you Frank but I made no progress since 4.39, maybe one small bugfix but it's withing error bars so it can as well be a regressionFrank Quisinsky wrote:Cheng:

I admit I haven't practically touched the code since the last release;
I only plan to release if I accumulate enough improvements (60 elo selfplay minimum),
so no new version anytime soon, sorry...

Engines that don't make enough progress should be wiped out from your webpage. That will learn. Also because you have to keep your webpage interesting and you have a reputation.
