I did see the movie 2 weeks ago in the theatre (not YouTube).

This Disney movie is about a Ugandan girl who learns chess from a missionary man. The man gives porridge everyday to the children as an incentive to learn chess. Phiona is her name and she rises from the slums of Katwe. At one point in the story, she was homeless along with the family. Her father died of AIDS at the age of 3.

As a teenager, she wins tournaments in Africa while learns chess strategy thru the books in English. She knows chess before she can read and write.

Later, in the year 2012 the children of the family goes to private school to dream ambitions of other occupations.

According to CNN, nobody knows when she was born (birthday) but she is about 16 years old in 2016.

********************************************************

If I had to give her advice to this lady is that she should get an occupation before chess is popular among the masses like a $100 tablet with free chess software; I have seen A LOT OF CHANGES in chess since I was a preteen winning scholastic trophies in the 1980's. I was enamored by chess thru standalone computer and almost nothing about Bobby Fischer.

All the best for Phiona and others that come after her all over the world,
