Indeed.

I ll wait to the official compile. It may be faster.
Nice timing, because Stockfish 8 will be test against Komodo 10.2 and Houdini 5.
Also it will be interesting to see it against Shredder 13 and perhaps Fire 5.

I really hope the rating sites test the asm version when it becomes available.

They never test the asm version, because they are ways to old fashioned .
In their heads the asm version is a not-illegal unofficial clone.
This is my personal opinion about cegt and ipon.

Re: Not sure with the ASM version!
I will do that, but I am not sure if the Stockfish people like that!
If not, I will test the version with the fastest compile!
I need for that question an information!
But after all I read about it I am sure that the Stockfish team have interest to see the ASM version!
Best

Re: SF8 has been released on abrok
The abrok compiles are around 8.5% slower than the compiles here:
http://chess.ultimaiq.net/stockfish.html. Stockfish 161030 is identical to Stockfish 8.
I use these compiles for my SPCC-Testrun. They work perfect and are fast.
Or,,if you want a Numa-Version of Stockfish 8, just download the latest Numa-Brainfish compile on http://zipproth.com. If you dont use the Cerebellum-Library, Brainfish 161030 is identical to Stockfish 8!
Or just wait for the offical compiles on https://stockfishchess.org/download/

Hello Stefan,
thanks for the information!
Numa?
I am reading about it but never I search an explanation.
Honestly ... I don't know what Numa is.
I think I am to old for all this.
Looking from time to time on your site.
Same method of testing will give us a good information about improvements. So your work is really good. I can understand that Stockfish people and fans like it.

I am definitly not an expert. But: Numa-compiles make the memory-access faster (and the engine itself running faster),, if a chessengine is running on a machine with more than one CPU.Frank Quisinsky wrote:Hello Stefan,

Re: SF8 has been released on abrok
Not released for me, until I see a post here by main developers with link to an official download.
I wonder when people will learn that faster compiles/asm versions bring almost nothing at LTC. They migth perform well at very fast TC, but, as tests have already shown, at LTC the benefit is non-existing. I would prefer a single functional change instead.

Re: SF8 has been released on abrok
Hi Lyudmil,
sure?
Can't see that the ASM versions are tested with longer time controls. I think if Stefan find out ... 30 Elo more in very fast games ... it can be 10 Elo better with slower time controls.
Absolutely not sure here!
And in this case and my opinion ASM version should be test!
It's time for it!
My tipp is ... means for my FCP Rating List ...
20 Elo more with the improvements from the last months and in additional ASM = 3.240 is possible for my list ... in comparing with the last version I tested.
